Tyler Mason's watercolors capture the subtle beauty of the Southwestern landscape and mystique of many of the Native American ruins in the Southwest. Mr. Mason was raised on the California coast in the Bay Area and obtained degrees in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. Growing up he developed a love for the landscape in between these two important markers in his life – the West Coast and the East Coast – as a child. As a child and even into his teens he experienced the great Southwest through family trips by both train and auto.
Throughout his career as an architect in New Mexico, creating watercolors of the Southwest have been an important part of Mr. Mason’s love for and appreciation of the landscape. The works in “Tierra Pintada” show the canyons, mountains, fantastical rock formations, Native America ruins, and Northern New Mexican churches that are a part of a rich life experience – working and living in the midst of a region of astounding natural beauty.
