ABOUT SANDY: "For years I have focused on evolving my silk painting techniques and knowledge. My silks are created using a layering process – silk, dyes and soy wax which create the imagery. I have added felting to the process which is called Nuno silks. I love painting on the silks then adding the felting for a more complex piece. Embellishments are often added following the Nuno process. I am currently exploring eco-botanical printing, silk painting followed by Nuno felting to create really stunning wearables and wall pieces."

"Over the past few years I’ve been exploring ways to weave together my favorite art disciplines. Using my hand painted silk as the focus, adding wool, flax and beads, creating support structures of driftwood collected on my beach and river walks. There’s the excitement of working with epoxy. Watching mica colors flow and dance much in the same way as dyes dance on my silks. Sculpting with fiber clay and creating botanical silks. A gathering and interweaving of all those threads."
