Fine Art in the Heart of Carrizozo
The Malkerson Gallery 408 brings together many different artists and art-making styles in the old Lane Sister’s House on Twelfth Street. Visiting the vintage 1929 home, you will be inspired to purchase a work of art as you wander through intriguing rooms, each one with a different focus or story. Walk outside to the beautiful sculpture garden to see original sculptures by local artists. Malkerson Gallery 408 presents fine art paintings and sculptures; folk art, ceramics, jewelry, prints, batiks, and life-sized burros in the sculpture garden, colorful and fun to experience. You can reach Gallery 408 by taking the San Antonio exit on I 25, ten miles south of Socorro, and heading east for approximately sixty-one miles on US 380. On this route, you will pass through the spectacular Carrizozo Malpais, a relatively young, by geologic standards, lava flow.
