Olin B. West, is a versatile artist working across a wide range of media. A consummate multimedia craftsman, his practice spans drawing and painting as well as the design and creation of fine silver jewelry.
West’s work has been exhibited in numerous shows and galleries and is held in both institutional and private collections, including the Museum of American Visionary Art in Baltimore, Maryland, along with several notable collectors.

Born in Paris, Texas, West has spent most of his life in the American West and Southwest. He settled in Santa Fe in 1976, where he built a strong reputation as both an artist and craftsman. Drawing on his expertise in silversmithing and beadwork, he became known for creating distinctive wearable art. He later relocated his studio to Truth or Consequences to focus on painting full time, where he has remained an influential and active member of the local arts community.

Largely self-taught, West has supplemented his practice with specialized studies at several institutions, including the Santa Fe School of Fine Arts, the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, and the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco. His artistic development has also been shaped by extensive museum study throughout the United States and Europe, as well as by ongoing engagement with a wide range of artists and creative influences.
