Because the arts are integral to the cultural life of a community, the Border Artists are committed to creating artwork and sharing their art through exhibitions and educational events. The Border Artists exhibitions are often fundraisers for other local not-for-profit groups. The group awards several artistic scholarships for high school and university students each year. Exhibitions by this group are always a tour de force of originality, freshness, and creativity
The Annual Borders Artists exhibition. Approximately twenty artists present a superb selection of wall art, sculpture and other media. Border Artists, a group of fine artists in southern New Mexico and El Paso, Texas, was formed in late 1990 to increase visibility and recognition for their artwork
HISTORY OF THE BORDER ARTIST
The history of the Border Artists originated back to the 1980’s with a group of founding members whose goal was to increase the visibility and recognition of these fine artists in Southern New Mexico. Finding much success, the group continued to add new members and organized as a non-profit artists' association in 1995. The Border Artists consist of 20 active members and several Signature members, all whom have been juried into the group. The group includes painters, ceramic sculptors, potters, stone sculptors, photographers, printmakers, weaver/fiber artists and mixed media artists. The members are residents of southern New Mexico and El Paso, Texas. Every year, we align with the goals of our non-profit through community work and/or donations based on exhibition sales for agencies such as Jardin de los Ninos, KRWG and El Calvario’s refugee resettlement program.
