PRESS RELEASE:
February 12 will be the launch date for a special fundraiser – Mannequin Mayhem. Mannequin Mayhem will showcase the creative talents of the T or C arts community with fun, community-wide events. Various artists are already dressing, painting, and accessorizing mannequins in creative and imaginative ways to make unique art pieces to be auctioned on March 5. Artist proceeds from this event will go to RioBravoFineArt Gallery to support its efforts to develop the old Icehouse as not only added gallery space, but a space for community and private events.
Forty artists are busily creating unique art pieces using vintage store mannequins. The finished mannequins will be unveiled on Saturday, February 12 at 6:00 p.m. in a Mannequin Mayhem Unveiling Party at RioBravoFineArt. Some of these mannequins will remain at the gallery, but some will be displayed around town as part of the next event – a Mannequin Mayhem Hunt. The Hunt starts on February 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Truth or Consequences Brewing Company. Finally, on March 5, there will be the Mannequin Mayhem Auction Party – ‘Breaking the Ice for the Icehouse’ Fundraiser, where the individual mannequins will be auctioned.

Mannequin Mayhem will be a fun event for the community and will generate some great publicity for T or C and its unique character. Organizers of Mannequin Madness are working to have, as a key part of the event, publicity that will showcase not only the town of T or C but also its strong arts community.
Artist proceeds from Mannequin Mayhem will benefit the Icehouse. The old Icehouse on Broadway is an important part of the history of Truth or Consequences. The original Icehouse, once an ongoing concern before the days of widespread, modern refrigeration, is now a space of bare concrete walls and a network of steel beams all open to the sky; most of the original building was destroyed by fire some time ago.
The current owner of the Icehouse, RioBravoFineArt Gallery, has long envisioned development of the Icehouse as a sculpture garden adjacent to the current fine-art gallery. The Gallery also envisions the Icehouse as a unique venue space that can be used for community gatherings and private events. Imaginative development of the Icehouse will tie the downtown area along Broadway to Ralph Edwards Park and fill a community role lost with the closure of the Black Cat Bookstore. RioBravoFineArt has long been a strong and vital supporter of the arts in Southern New Mexico, and this fund raiser is to acknowledge that support and assist the Gallery in accomplishing its goal of not only developing added Gallery space but also creating a community space.
