New Abstract Series Paintings
The whole of a painting consists of the sum of its parts. Sometimes the whole, when it is finished, is not as interesting or engaging as its parts; the broad sweep of a brushstroke here, the intense pink-to-red there, or the thick black zig-zag line in the corner may all be miraculous, but the painting is not working. What to do? I decided that rather than create more compositions by painting over the rejected ones, I would re-vision them by isolating the parts that I liked, adding to them or not, and making small paintings out of them. Thus, the Re-Vision Series was born.
